Your bio says you're fans of Scandinavian black metal. Is this true? are you closet satanists?? Any collaberations with Count Grishnach in thepipeline? Actually hes a raging nazi, so maybe not...
We are truly fans of Scandinavian black metal. We played our first show in Oslo at a Garage to members of Emperor. They were nice. Later that year, we honored the band of the same name by dropping acid at Dimuborgir in Iceland. We also recently played a show in Helsinki featuring black metal prodigy Jakko, from the Finnish band Heaven and Hell.
How does the dynamic of the Furs work with you being a couple? Do you play/write better when you've had a tiff?
What's a tiff? Some kind of pastry?
Dan is in Wolf parade and Alexei is a writer, with these obviously time consuming commitments how much time do you actively dedicate to Handsome Furs? Do you play live much?
We, as Handsome Furs, toured for a total of six months during 2007, managed to get married, write a number of stories and record the new Wolf Parade album. We never have any time off. The thing with being self-employed is that you forget to give yourself a break.
Theres some pretty surreal lyrics in there, what influences the subject matter?
Booze, Drugs, Architecture, Travel, Books.
Your album's been out since mid last year, any recorded releases coming this year? What can we expect from them?
We are writing the next record right now. You can expect it be to called 'Face Control.'
This was gonna be the love issue, but we fucked it up. Whats the preferred emotion of Handsome Furs, Love or hate?
I'm not sure we know the difference between love and hate, we seem to do both with the same ferocity.
