Hello the velvet orchestra, so how long have you been together, in a band or friends?
Leemun: Well me and Diddy have been playing together for 4 years now we was in a band called Playing With Apes based in Birmingham with Tom Hudson from Pulled Apart By Horses but Tom moved to Leeds and we never really had much time to do the band, so me and Diddy started up The Velvet as a 2 piece.... so i guess out of boredom but as we carried on writing stuff we knew we was on to something, then about 3 years later got Ben in on bass.
Didlock: Leemun just said it really.
Ben: I met these fine gentlemen after hearing them play a gig in Stourbridge. My other band supported, and i was like "yeah, niiiiice....". Soon after Lee and Didd OBVIOUSLY adored the skills... so started sessioning with them. Unfortunately i'm at university at the moment, so can only gig in holiday times really, but when we do meet up, oh what a jolly time it is...
how old is everyone?
Leemun: well im 22

Leemun: LOUD - Defiantly not for the elderly or Cliff Richard's fans
Ben: RAW - you can literally feel the energy
Didlock: Boom – like boom shake shake shake the room. gotta love Will Smith.
I noticed your doing an inside store gig at zavvi (formally virgin), what do you think of the name change, personally i don't know the legal reasons behind it but its certainly lost my custom since changing, scum, sub human scum...?
Leemun: Never really liked Virgin to be honest the prices were shit, was like £20 for a DVD that was 4 years old
Ben: Im very partial to the green colour on the logo, but other than that, its the freaking same isn't it?
Didlock: I never notice it till like 3 mounths after its happened. And yet I still have no idea what happened. But I don’t really really buy stuff from stores. get its online.
what kind of shit can we expect at your shows?
Leemun: Our live reviews say it all on our myspace i dont know what to expect because each show has a different energy we had one that said the floor was shaking haha to me thats a good review. most people go crazy about is the way i can sing radically high but that still grabs peoples attention which i love and its so rare for us to play live as we only really prefer to record.
Ben: I'd say regardless of the venue, a show is always put on to the max. Lee rocks out HARD; the first time i saw him and Didd, Lee was literally in the crowd. The guys that came with me to the show, as well as myself, were blown away!

Any nakedness, its so cool again?
Leemun: Yeah i have noticed i don't think me and Diddy will be getting our tops off as we are the fat ones in the band but hey im not complaining keeps my misses warm haha.
Ben: Ill get naked for food and / or coffee. seriously.
Didlock: well yeah being a fat fucker is a bit of a draw back but you never know again.might bust out a vest and u will see a side boob here and there. If that’s what they want to see then I shall try my best to uphold that.hahaha.i dono maybe we be able 2 get leemun down to a t-shirt instead of four layers. Crazy bugger.
Leemun: Hahaha i just love the fact you said side boob. defiantly me and diddy have the best side boobs haha
would you ever consider going acoustic?
Leemun: No i mean have you listened to the stuff ? that shit would sound weird acoustic.
Ben: ROFL
Didlock: That’s really funny because I was on about that last Friday as a joke and we played around with it so no we shall not acoustic. I hate doing it cant play drums.
Ok, as brief as it was...thats it, tell us your plans for the future and any upcoming shows?
Leemun: Shows we are playing with Das Wanderlust at the cockpit on the 6th September and also instore gig at Zavvi in Leeds, we have no plans really we will still be a underground band and i think we would like to keep it that way. Not really a fan of touring with 2 sweaty men either hehe.
Didlock: yeah we can smell quite bad at times so none of that. There will be shows just don’t know when. We like stuff some what last min. like a week before had so jst keep and eye out on the myspace page. But just more recordings coming. We write we record. Its what we know and what we seem to be some what good at.
Leemun: We have our EP on cassette coming out in the next month aswell so keep a eye out for that.
